MFA Incorporated appoints Ernie Verslues as President and CEO

MFA Incorporated today announced the appointment of Ernie Verslues to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer for the cooperative, effective March 1, 2015. Verslues has 27 years of cooperative business experience at MFA, from Corporate Tax Manager, to Regional Manager, to Senior Vice President of Finance, and Chief Financial Officer.

As Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, Verslues oversees the company’s intricate corporate financing operations, including accounting, auditing, bonds, credit, information technology, insurance, retirement, tax and treasury.

Verslues has played key roles in important corporate functions including the acquisition of many of the cooperative’s successful expansion and joint venture efforts, implementation of information technology for the company, and corporate finance. Verslues has served an integral role in MFA’s strategic planning process, including identifying goals and objectives and planning for corporate action.

Don Mills, Chairman of MFA Incorporated’s Board of Directors, said that Verslues brings broad knowledge and essential skills to the CEO position through his years as a member of MFA’s senior management team. “His understanding of cooperative business is expansive,” said Mills. “He is a strategic thinker and knows the obstacles of today’s marketplace as well as the strengths MFA brings to that marketplace. Ernie has both the hands-on experience through his retail management skills and the financial knowledge necessary to lead MFA to new achievements.”

Verslues graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s in accounting from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. He was raised on his parents’ dairy farm near Taos, Mo. Verslues and his wife, Jan, have three grown children.
