Leadership Corps is designed for civic-minded couples interested in furthering their leadership expertise. The program began in 1988 when MFA aimed to educate and inform future leaders in rural communities served by the cooperative. Participants hear firsthand from speakers with expertise in leadership and agricultural advocacy. The agenda also includes cooperative education, leadership development and technical workshops aimed to provide value to participants’ farming operations.
Members of the 2017-18 program participated in tours of the MFA home office, the Christopher S. Bond Life Science Center at the University of Missouri, the Lyceum Theater in Historic Arrow Rock and Les Bourgeois winery and restaurant on the bluffs overlooking the Missouri River.
Participants attend two weekend sessions in Columbia, Mo. The second session will be scheduled in January 2018. Applications are available at MFA locations for upcoming Leadership Corps programs, which are held every two years. Interested couples should contact their local Agri-Services member for more information.
