Russell J. Rosier*, MFA Incorporated
Unwavering belief in farmer cooperatives; exemplary leadership; integrity; vision; business acumen
R.J. Rosier began his cooperative career as a bookkeeper at the Adrian Elevator in 1920. He joined MFA as chief auditor in 1922. As the first employee of the cooperative, he worked from a small office on the second floor of a downtown building. As MFA grew, Rosier became secretary in 1929 and held that position until the time of his retirement. In his 44 years of service, MFA’s membership grew ten-fold.
Rosier was one of the founders and incorporators of the MFA Mutual Insurance Company in 1945. MFA pledged almost its entire net worth at the time to start this venture. Rosier held policy number 3 until the time of his death. He also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the company and was a member of its board of directors.
